Upon walking in the door at Kahului Elementary School cafeteria we were descended upon by a cadre of Schatz staff, clipboards in hand. They wanted information! Name, address, email, phone number, all dutifully recorded.
Those of us who wanted to ask a question at this "Town Hall" were required to fill out a form, demanding more information. These forms were placed in a box and carefully scrutinized by Schatz staff who cherry-picked questions that allowed him to blow his own horn. This was after he already spent the first 25 minutes doing just that.
He bragged about his bipartisan TeleHealth legislation, to enable people in rural areas to talk to their health providers on their cell phones. Guess what? That means 5G! According to Inside Sources: "5G has the capacity to maximize internet speed and responsiveness and advance a new healthcare trend: Telehealth".
Why is Sen. Schatz so focused on deploying 5G? Let's look at his campaign contributors for clues:
AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Raytheon (missiles), Huntington Ingalls Industries (largest US military shipbuilder), Alphabet Inc. (Google), Deutsche Telekom, BAE Systems (British multinational defense, security, and aerospace company), Facebook, Microsoft, etc.
There were about a dozen of us "5G Free Hawaii" folks there, many of whom submitted questions, yet no such questions were asked. Instead some cherry-picked questions were even repeated in the heavily controlled line-up.
Sen. Schatz, we must ask, what are you afraid of? Maybe he doesn't want anyone to ask about those campaign contributors...
