It’s vitally important that we fill the chamber on Friday to support Kelly! As you may know the Maui County Council will hold a special meeting on Friday to formalize the transfer of power of the Chairship and restructure some committees.
Although our hearts are broken with the thought of Kelly no longer being Chair, we want to honor her and the many significant contributions she has made on our behalf. We want her to know how much we appreciate and support her. This is a tribute to Kelly, a show of respect and admiration.
Please wear green, Kelly’s campaign color! Bring a sign “We love you Kelly” or similar message. Signs are allowed but be careful not to block anyone’s view.
This is an honoring of Kelly in the spirit of aloha. We are aligning with the love and light of this holy season. Let’s show Kelly all that she stands for, the principles themselves, higher consciousness, integrity, grace, dignity, responsibility, respect… all the heartfelt values that gave her the inspiration to take on that job.
If you feel inspired to testify, please do. Here is some sample testimony. Limited to 3 minutes per item. If you sign up for all three at the registration table (8th floor County Building) you will have 9 minutes total.
1) AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 19-5, ESTABLISHING THE STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE COUNCIL AND DEFINING THEIR DUTIES
2) AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 19-13, ESTABLISHING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE COUNCIL
3) ELECTING THE COUNCIL CHAIR
Sample testimony
I’m here to support Kelly King. She’s been an amazing Chair person. I am shocked by what has happened here. What she has accomplished in the last year has been extraordinary. I support whatever she wants to do. If she wants to be chair of the new committee on climate change, I support that. If she wants to remain council Chair, I support that. There are a lot of things happening here now that don’t make sense for the good of our county. Kelly has always acted for the good of the county. I trust
her and respect her and admire her. And I thank her for her service. Regarding item # 19-5, if Kelly wants the committee on Climate Change she should be granted that. Regarding # 19-13, Kelly should be able to pick the Chair and Vice Chair of the Climate Change committee, if that’s what she wants. Regarding electing Council Chair, I support Kelly King for Council Chair if thats what she wants. She is the best.
